PRESENTATION
Offered jointly by CENTQUATRE (Paris) and PACT Zollverein (Essen), the program Feldstärke International provides the opportunity to arts students from all disciplines (design, dance, cinema, circus arts, landscape art, visual and plastic arts, music, video, theatre, numeric arts), to work in closer collaboration.
On this basic principle, approximately 50 students a year will be brought together for a series of three workshops that will take place at the partners’ venues: at CENTQUATRE, at PACT Zollverein and finally at a third partner’s venue.
Conceived around a principle of transversality, this program aims to decompartmentalize arts techniques and training methods as well as territories.
The student meetings take place over a very short period of time: each of the three workshops is one week long. During these sessions, the students, divided in small groups, will be required to input daily artistic proposals presented to everyone at the end of each day. The emphasis of these workshops is on the creative process itself and not on production.
At the end of each workshop, a public opening will invite the audience to discover the results. The audience is expected to get rid of its habits and open up to art in progress, an artistic impulse, a collective energy. The emphasis is above all on research: an experimental work produced in a tight schedule.
Feldstärke International encourages networking between development and production venues. On the verge of graduating from art schools, students will familiarize themselves with artistic institutions of international dimension as future potential partners.
Feldstärke International is conceived as a long-term project, and is renewable over a 3 year period.
